NHSFR Lincoln Volunteer

Volunteers are key to the success of the NHSFR Lincoln!

This event will bring huge economic impact to our county and to the State of Nebraska while supporting this national youth organization, which gives $2 million in scholarships annually.

The event will occur on the Lancaster county's fairgrounds - the non-profit Lancaster Event Center at 4100 N 84th St - on the eastern edge of Lincoln not far from the Waverly exit of I-80. Come join our fun team where you'll be part of the "family" as we make the NHSFR feel welcome their first year back in Nebraska in several decades.

If you're interested in volunteering, fill out the form. We'll put you on our list to keep you in the loop on opportunities as we get closer!

Please indicate your type of interest and your contact information.

Where can I pre-order feed, hay and shavings to save time during check-in?

Through our online portal here.  Note feed is only available via pre-order by July 12.

Will my horse be on concrete or dirt?

You will be assigned either indoor or outdoor stalling upon check-in. Some indoor stalls are on compacted arena dirt, while others are on concrete with mats. All outdoor stalling is on dirt, small gravel, or grass. There is no guarantee of location or stall type.

Is there a map of the stalls?

You can find a map of the stalls here. Be on the lookout for map updates and maps with stall numbers.

Are mats provided or do we need to bring/buy our own.

Mats will be provided for all stalls on concreate free of charge. They will not be provided for outdoor or arena dirt stalls. We will not be renting out or selling mats. If you would like a mat please bring your own.

Are shavings provided or do we need to bring/buy our own?

Three bags of shavings will be provided for each stall, this is included in the price of your stall.  DO NOT bring your own shavings as this can be a health hazard.

Is hay provided or do we need to bring/buy our own?

Hay and shavings will be available for purchase at the General Store inside Pavilion 2.

Can I have a tack stall?

There will be NO TACK STALLS ALLOWED.

Can I stall my horse off grounds?

Horses will not be allowed to be stalled off grounds for security reasons. If you are using a local rental horse they are not required to stall on grounds, however you must follow all horse check in procedures.

I am bringing a Stud horse; can I stall them next to my mare or gelding?

No. All stud horses will be required to stall in a separate area of the indoor stalling.

Who do I contact if I am dropping out or changing my stalls?

Please contact Melissa Wolf of the NHSRA here, for all inquiries about dropping out or changing stalls.

Will I be stalled with my state/team?

Yes, all states/teams will be stalled in the same area.

Can I stall next to someone specific from another state?

We will do our best to fulfill stalling requests within the same state but we cannot promise to have all stall specifications fulfilled.

What kind of health information do I need?

For all livestock health requirements to enter the state of Nebraska please see the back of your horse identification paperwork.

Where will everything be at on grounds? Where am I allowed to drive a golf cart or walk my horses?

We have created an event map indicating where each of the rodeo events, on-site services, golf cart and horse traffic and more are located. It is available here.

Golf carts are ONLY for contestants and their families.

Note we will be sharing a separate map with contestants and families that indicates traffic flow for check-in.

I rented an RV and need info about early drop off.

• RV Lessees must provide the RV owners with the Contestant's qualifying state and name.
• Rented RV's may be moved onto the property July 8–July 14.
• RV owner must call LEC Fairgrounds to set up an appointment July 5-July 14 to move into the Contestant's assigned campsite. (Call 402-441-6545 Option 0 M-F 8am-5pm)
• Contestant's MUST have reserved a campsite with their state secretary in order for a rented RV to come onto the grounds (info in your contestant housing packet.
• If your RV owner cannot drop off that morning or prior to then, give us a call at 402.441.3860 to schedule your drop off.

My state team had a few 'waitlists' and 'dry camping' spots when signed up for housing. Do I need to make a reservation for them through the dry camping portal?

Anyone that made wait list / dry camping reservations through State Secretary DOES NOT need to make an online dry camp reservation as the State Secretary dry camp reservations by paper will be honored first. There are plenty of dry camping spots for the teams, and we will be placing the teams together by state like we do in full service campground.

I have questions about horse stalls.

Please view our Stalling FAQ page here.

Is there any extra dry camping available near the grounds for extra family and friends?

Yes, there will be limited dry camping available directly across Havelock Avenue to the north on grounds we have leased for this event. Anyone who wants to make reservations for this can do so through the dry camping portal here. NOTE: Contestant families that made dry camping reservations through their State Secretary DO NOT need to make a reservation through the portal.

There is sewer “honey wagon” services available to reserve as well as water truck services to reserve.

When is the General Store open?

General store open hours are available here.
